Settlers from Scotland, Ireland, England, and Acadie came to farm, start businesses, work for the lumber barons, and provide services. A few generations later, settlements mushroomed to twelve distinct and busy localities. Most had their own schools, post offices, stores, etc. and they were either part of the Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur Parish or the Union Church Congregation.
